12/18/2017 0 Comments Unit 5 School ProjectThe New York Institute of Art and Design Unit 5 Project Compare four online retailers to four retail boutiques for maternity clothes. Assume you are buying sportswear for a pregnant woman. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of online vs retail shopping in terms of convenience, selection, quality, and price. These are the online stores and department stores that carry maternity clothing. Because online shopping has increased so heavily over the years, it's almost impossible to find a maternity clothing store that just sells maternity clothing only. So, so many online stores that only carry maternity wear, or online stores that have a maternity line or selection. Then there's huge department stores that sell them online and in - store. Department stores like Macy's, Ross, all the way to Wal-Mart, Target, etc., they have a maternity clothing section online and at the store. Motherhood Maternity seems to be the most popular brand and has online and stores. They have them all over the U.S. Pea in The Pod is very popular, they carry many maternity brands online and have stores. I say honestly, with clothing if you have the money it's best to buy expensive clothing. The quality of the fabric, stitching and design equals style and comfort. Quality costs. People on a budget usually aren't financially ahead enough to hire a personal stylist. I mean if their budget is in fact low. So if you have the means to acquire a stylist I'm assuming you have a good size budget. When you're a pregnant woman comfort is golden. There are many woman put on bed rest, or even in the hospital. Many active pregnant woman who are always on the go and many workout. Lot's are already mom's, mom's with a career too, or wives with lots of physical, daily duties. Whether your at home in bed, in hospital, post pregnancy, or active, there's a variety of clothing and under garments, in all sizes. I really liked Old Navy online during my 2nd pregnancy. Cute clothes, great low prices and quality material. I was so sick stuck at home in bed until late in my pregnancy, both times it was rough. I was also in the hospital too. For all the active women, or career women, there are just simply too many adorable outfits, sports wear, upscale attire, under garments and footwear. From no label and sold via EBay from China, Motherhood Maternity, Old Navy brand, to Burberry, Gucci, and more, there's endless stores online and department stores that carry maternity clothing. I think it's obvious trying on clothes is the biggest advantage of shopping at a store in person. Looking at the color on you, seeing how the garment fits, feels and looks is essential. However you can shop online 24 hours a day. Online, just like in - store, there are specials. Online only special, coupon in - store specials. Cyber Monday, Black Friday both online and in - store. I think as a pregnant woman you may not want to be shopping on a huge crowd of people and waiting in long lines. Comfort is usually important more than deals. I think it can be convenient to shop online, yet inconvenient if something doesn't fit. I like visiting websites that only sale maternity clothing because they have a variety and there's no temptation or distraction to buy things other than maternity cloths. I think quality maternity clothing can be found at places like Wal-Mart and Ross. The selection will be slim or just no where near the variety at an actual maternity store. But that rings true at Macy's or Burberry. Both online and stores but don't specialize in offering maternity wear. I think overall if a department store has maternity wear, then they most likely have a bigger selection online. There isn't always a nearby Motherhood Maternity store. Not all women are well enough to go shopping, and some can't afford their prices. So the conscience of online shopping, the larger selection and great online prices, overweighs not being able to be in store shopping, and trying on things. If I were shopping for a pregnant woman who's going to be at home during her pregnancy, not planning to go to events or special occasions, I'd advice Old Navy, Gap, Ross and Wal-Mart. If my client has a career where she had to be groomed and well put together, but no necessarily upscale, or she's already a mom and has PTA meetings, play dates, accompanying her spouse for his biz events, church, etc. I'd suggest JC Penny, Motherhood Maternity, Pea in The Pod, and more. If she is a socialite, like say the wife of a biz man and they dine out with her partner's, boss and or clients, or has biz meetings and parties at home, I'd suggest Macy's, Bloomingdales, etc. Maybe a woman who has a career as a banker, lawyer, actress, event hostess, travel agent, school teacher,... someone in the public eye in a professional way, that doesn't have a required uniform. I'd also suggest high end retailers. High end name brands. Appearance can be important whether your a full time housewife, housewife and mom already, havea job or career in any field. High end clothing brands fit so well, last long and are comfortable, usually. I think comfort is 1st, conscience 2nd, and budget 3rd. All are essential. Then variety comes into play and becomes important due to personal taste. I like specialty stores because the variety is there, sales people who know those garments, and 9 out of 10 times the brand or brands they carry are made to look fabulous on a pregnant woman and are comfortable. Higher prices to some degree and less convenient than online shopping. But get to try on garments that were made for pregnancy. Bellow ar men's suits. Had to find 9 suits total! 3 men's suit designers and 3 suits each. " You are shopping for a short, stocky man with an olive-toned complexion and dark hair who has a substantial budget and would like to buy a new business suit for the fall. He tells you he likes pinstripes or charcoal gray. Comparison shop three top menswear designers, review what they are showing, select three makes and cuts that would most flatter your client, and describe these selections in detail, including what alterations your client would most likely need and what pattern shirt and tie would most complement his skin tone and body type and any accessories you would recommend.
