10/27/2017 0 Comments Bad habits in bizLet me tell you my 2 cents from working with numerous people over the years.
Unprofessional people in biz do NOT want to be treated exactly how they treat others. Some people think an eye for an eye or giving folks a taste of their own medicine, works. I don't have that amount of excess time #1 to play games. #2 I'm not unprofessional so certain things I just won't do. Negative things that cause a negative reaction. People who have horrible communication, want me to always have great communication. People that make commitments and don't feel obligated to KEEP them, don't want me to commitment and never follow through. People who are constantly late. Not once in awhile but often. They don't want me to be late, having them prepared and waiting on me. People who pay late, wouldn't be pleased if I paid them late. People who cancel last minute, don't want me to cancel on them last minute! People who are behind on edits, on production, don't want to be the one waiting for me to produce. People who waste my time, take me for granted, don't want me to treat them the exact same way in return. My moto in biz is,.... we come together in biz to produce positive results! No 2 ways around that. I can think you're gorgeous, I can think you're funny, it can be pleasant working around you, you can be paying me or providing a service as trade. Alllll of that goes right out the window and down the tubes if you're unprofessional. I want to add that no one is perfect,.... we know this. But it's like throw me a freaking bone, please. How many unpleasant, unprofessional things am I expected to endure? It's one thing for something negative to happen once or on occasion. It's another for it to be a clear habit and pattern! That's in personal and in biz. If it's multiple negative things that all keep reoccurring, at what point will it be enough? We all have choices. The power to communicate, produce, keep commitments, show we value others and who we will work with and who we won't! If the bad outweighs the good, we have a problem. I'd expect no less of an outlook in return. What we bring to the table in biz has to backed up by positive actions. Production, professionalism. Please don't use the excuse that pinup is a hobby! Do you know how many women do pinup as a hobby and still act professional!!!! Do you know how many photographers that are brand new to pinup or do it as a hobby and still act professional? So it's a hobby or a once a year thing , or maybe you shoot often, what does that have to do with your level of commitment in biz? A clear pattern can not be ignored only accepted. I wanna give some examples of dolls doing pinup shoots as a hobby or once a year thing. Positive stories. Stories not at all uncommon. A gal, drop dead gorgeous, sweet as a button. From day one great communication. Never modeled a day in her life! Has a career. Wanted pictures for herself. Didn't want images for publication. Showed up on time, prepared and paid. Booked several shoots since then and always remained professional. An older woman who's not a model, not interested in being a model, but wanted to visit Vegas during Viva and get images. She booked a spot at 2 shoots, 1 I hosted, the other I co hosted. Paid her deposits, got her nails done, got her makeup professionally, bought new wardrobe and borrowed some of mine. She showed up early, excited, full of energy, prepared and ready to rock . Not a model, not even a hobby. 1st time shooting pinup, once a year pampering gift to herself and chose to visit here to do it. Another doll. Boy does she have a career! Chief in the Navy, still young! Single mom. Family woman, career woman. I'm quite sure to obtain and achieve all she has thus far took sheer commitment and obviously great communication. Since day one it was all about fun for her! She booked a family pinup shoot. It wasn't about being a, " model ". Wasn't about getting published. It was about getting pampered, getting away from work and life. Laughing and having fun! Always early or on time. I manage her pinup career because after so many shoots she has one. Never once late on fees. Has paid me in full online before her shoots. This young woman can literally be out to sea, or overseas training and every single month she pays on time! So my point is, PLEASE don't even try to tell me if pinup is a hobby YOU can't be professional. Why make it sound like the title of model means professional. I disagree. How many models flake, bail on commitments, cancel last minute, show up late, take people's time for granted, have horrible communication, won't research, won't invest? Yet how many non models do the exact opposite!!! Think about it. I honestly can't think of a single person in biz who enjoys working with someone who's late often, unprepared or has bad communication, or all the above. So I know it's not just me!
